IMU-CET Eligibility Checker
Five inputs, one honest answer. This runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and you will not be asked for your phone number to see the result.
The criteria we check against
- ▸ Upper age limit of 25 years for DNS and B.Tech Marine Engineering
- ▸ 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics — mandatory, no substitutes
- ▸ Minimum 60% aggregate in PCM
- ▸ Minimum 50% in English at 10th or 12th level
- ▸ 6/6 unaided vision and normal colour vision for the deck side
- ▸ Medical fitness from a DG Shipping–approved doctor
Thresholds follow the long-standing IMU-CET and DG Shipping requirements. They are reviewed periodically — always confirm against the current information brochure at imu.edu.in and dgshipping.gov.in before applying.

Know the Paper
IMU-CET syllabus at a glance
200 objective questions in 180 minutes, computer-based. PCM carries the heaviest weight, but the three remaining sections are where well-prepared students quietly lose their rank.
Physics
Mechanics, laws of motion, work-energy-power, gravitation, properties of matter, thermodynamics, oscillations and waves, electrostatics, current electricity, magnetism, optics, modern physics.
Chemistry
Atomic structure, chemical bonding, states of matter, thermochemistry, equilibrium, redox, electrochemistry, periodic properties, s/p/d block elements, organic basics and functional groups.
Mathematics
Algebra, quadratic equations, sequences, matrices and determinants, trigonometry, coordinate geometry, vectors, differential and integral calculus, probability and statistics.
English
Grammar and usage, tenses, prepositions, articles, error spotting, sentence rearrangement, synonyms and antonyms, idioms, and reading comprehension.
General Aptitude
Number series, coding-decoding, blood relations, direction sense, syllogisms, ratio and proportion, time-speed-distance, work, percentages, data interpretation.
General Knowledge
Indian and world geography (ports, straits, oceans), history and polity basics, science awareness, sports, awards, and current affairs — with a noticeable maritime bias.
One strategy note that changes scores
The paper has historically carried no negative marking. That makes an unattempted question strictly worse than a guessed one — yet every year students leave 15–20 blank because they ran out of clock. Practise finishing, not perfecting. Confirm the marking scheme on the current notification before you rely on it.
Document readiness checklist
Start these now. Every year, prepared candidates lose a full cycle waiting on a passport or a medical appointment.
